A New Year Note
Now that the new year is here, I find myself trying to realize a number of goals that would help my writing career. Following Dakota's suggestion, I submitted for the Zane anthology. Did anyone else do that? I thought about submitting that Lolita-esqe story, but then I got a better idea: a story about two people getting it on at a writing conference. Yeah, I know.
What are your plans for the year? Please feel free to share. I'm a bit concerned that if we don't keep our line of communication open, then we might drift apart, and I definitely don't want that to happen.
I hope you are all having a wonderful new year, and I promise to keep up with your individual blogs much better.
Peace, love, and soul.

I for one am making a commitment to writing and getting my stories out there. Though I have not submitted anything to Zane, I have been working on a story I intended for Zane to actually send out to my Big Three in science fiction: Asimov's, Analog, and The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.
Outside of writing and family and friends (including the Invincible Nine), everything else is secondary. Hope this finds everyone doing well. Happy 2007 to all!
Hello everyone...it's been awhile. It's been kinda hectic this way. I did submit something to Zane. We'll see how that goes. I'm actually taking some time off from writing. Don't know yet when I'll get back to it. Happy New Year to everyone!
Happy New Year to everyone! I'm glad we are trying to keep things going. It's hard keeping in touch, when because the time between sending out a story and hearing from the publisher or magazine can be months.
So far I have sent out two stories this year. One went to Glimmertrain which is a mag I'd love to be published in. I felt the story was ready and that's a good feeling. I was supposed to have started a six week short fiction workshop on Tuesday, but it snowed three inches here that day and shut the city down. So we'll try again next week. It is sponsored by a writers organization called The Attic that offers classes throughout the year. There are similar oganizations in the city, along with at least five literary and poetry journals.
Currently, I'm re-writing my novel (too many POV characters), working on short stories and trying to have some work decent enough to submit to workshops (Tinhouse in Portland, Callaloo and VONA in SF). It sounds like a lot, but it's not. I still feel like I'm not pushing myself.
So if you guys here about any fiction mags looking for submissions, keep us all posted. Have a good year.

Well, I did revise Everything Outlaws are Made of over Christmas break, so I queried a few people on it. If you have any leads on a literary agent for Outlaws, I would be happy to follow them.
Then, I have sent out a play, and I will probably sumbit a couple more for contests. I am so satisfied with the work I with the Olive Harvey student theater, that I have lost some of my drive to conquer all the world's stages. I hope, once things even out at work, that I can get back to playwriting.
I mostly have been working on short stories. I feel like I have more control over my career sending out a short story a week, than I do with the plays and poems, but this year, I will deprioritize publishing and concentrate on writing. I am not going to dedicate as much energy to it as I had. It is such a buzzkill.
Folks hooking up at conferences? That never happens does it! :-) Congrats on getting Fondling in the anthology!
